Assingment 3: Project presentation

The progress presentation is an opportunity to show the current state of your project and get feedback from your peers. Please note that you do not need to show the results for the full project. However, we will expect visible progress (or preliminary results) since the project proposal. The presentation should be 30 minutes long, including the Q&A session, and all team members should present and answer questions at the end of the presentation.

Due date: You can find the schedule of the presentation in the Moodle. Please send your presentation to murat.kirtay@informatik.hu-berlin.de one day before your presentation date. Note that you do not need to send the finalized presentation.

Assingment 2: Project proposal

In this assignment, the teams should submit a brief description, ideally 1.5 pages long, of their project proposal. The topic of your project is shown in the table in the Seminar Groups section. Note that the (selected) topic of your project was assigned based on your paper preferences, i.e., the top three papers of your (or your group) choice.

The project teams can propose the following projects.
Project type 1: A proposal on a topic of HRI by critically evaluating studies such as social learning, programming by demonstration, HRI applications, etc. Here, you should select an area of focus in HRI and read 7-10 papers to review the state-of-art studies, critically.
Project type 2: A proposal on reproducing or re-purposing an HRI study. Here, you can select one of the papers in the reading list and then adapt the model and dataset introduced in the paper to replicate the study or re-purpose the study for different tasks or models.

You can use the suggested template in latex or word format [1,2]. The proposal should include the followings:

[1] docx and odt templates
[2] latex template

Assingment 1: Project team formation

In this assignment, students should form a team with 2-3 members and choose their top three publications from the section: Papers list for seminar project in the Moodle pages (Section 6) and write a summary of the selected papers. The suggested length of a summary for each paper is 2-3 paragraphs. Note that we do not recommend a single-person project. Please contact us in advance if you are planning to propose a single-person project. Please use the Moodle forum to find a group member.
